Meeting our commitments

“...one of the strengths of their people is that they did what they said they were going to do...”
Mark Heaton, GM Anglo Coal Australia – Drayton

Leveraging your people’s experience

“...a methodology was used that complemented internal initiatives and provided a holistic approach that engaged the workforce. Our employees have ideas on what can be improved and were more likely to be committed to ‘the new way of doing things’ if they were involved...”
Graeme York, CEO International Power – Hazelwood

Working with your people

“I have worked for a number years with people who formed the Coxswain Alliance. They integrated strongly into our business and got alongside my people to guide them through the changes we were implementing. Some of those changes were tough, and it was the skills that they brought – and transferred to my people – that were integral to the success of those change programs. I look forward to working with them in the future.”
A Senior Executive – Global Financial Services, Australian unit

Engaging early for sustainability

“...the ‘change model’ used, is a powerful tool that ensures that the changes within the business are being designed and implemented by the people closest to the real issues...”
Graeme York, CEO International Power – Hazelwood

Disciplined analysis

“The team was very much data driven and used a variety of statistical tools and techniques to drive improvements. The major areas of focus were in working capital reduction, order lead-time analysis & reduction, freight optimisation, distribution centre labour utilisation and the optimisation of ordering and safety stock levels.”
Mark De Wit, Managing Director, Futuris Automotive Group Ltd

Who we are

“...a high degree of professionalism and integrity...”

About us

Our name
Cox• swain /koks’n/ noun
1.  a person who steers a (small, usually racing) boat;
2.  a person in a racing shell who usually directs the rest of the crew.

Just like in a rowing crew, our consultants play a key role in helping organisations navigate and steer through the challenges of a dynamic competitive environment. By working in alliance with our clients’ teams, we identify and help maintain the best course to reach their objectives. We provide the motivation and coordination to ensure that the crews have the power and rhythm to achieve the goals. Like the coxswain of a boat, we can see the destination because we have done this before.

This analogy gives us our name – Coxswain Alliance – and the certainty that our work will always be in your best interests. Because when we are on the same boat, we are all focused on the same goals.
Coxswain Alliance is an operational improvement consulting firm providing a broad spectrum of consulting services from visioning and strategy to implementation. As a team of business consultants, we help organisations navigate the process of change needed to identify and convert opportunities within their operations to actual business benefits and desired results.

Formed in 2009, Coxswain Alliance was established by a core group of operations consulting professionals to provide a broader range of consulting services and work better within the Australian context of how organisations work best with external partners. Our people have extensive corporate managerial and consulting experience, including 75 years of combined experience at a global operational consulting firm.

We combine our technical expertise in business improvement and extensive professional services network with your business knowledge and objectives to rapidly develop and deliver sustainable improvements.

Our focus for you

Our focus is to drive sustainable benefits for you. It combines a range of approaches, but the core of our work is driven through your people. We make the changes with them and through their efforts, thus ensuring a strong transfer of skills and an ability to sustain – and continue to improve – the changes and benefits.
